Somalia’s civil war and ongoing political turmoil have devastated the health infrastructure in the country. With few trained providers and services available only in major cities, it is difficult for most Somalis to access needed medical care and there is an enormous backlog of untreated clubfoot cases.

In early 2019, MiracleFeet began a partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support clubfoot treatment in Somalia.

Though safety concerns have made it challenging for most NGOs to work continuously in Somalia, ICRC and the Somali Red Crescent Society operated throughout Somalia’s civil war and have remained an advocate of rehabilitative services. ICRC works with MiracleFeet to provide program support, materials, and ongoing training and mentoring. SRCS provides staff and space for clubfoot clinics. ICRC and SRCS both work to remove the barriers people with disabilities face by fostering sustainable, accessible, and quality physical rehabilitation services.
