Bangladesh
About our work
Bangladesh has made progress in expanding access to healthcare, but geographical and socioeconomic barriers continue to limit access to quality clubfoot treatment. MiracleFeet supports clubfoot care in Bangladesh through technical and financial assistance, provider training and supervision, early detection and referral, and access to treatment using the Ponseti method. Since 2018 MiracleFeet has been working in Bangladesh for the sustainable clubfoot treatment in Bangladesh.
In FY27, MiracleFeet began a new partnership with Social Assistance and Rehabilitation for the Physically Vulnerable (SARPV), which serves as the lead implementing partner for the MiracleFeet-supported clubfoot program in Bangladesh. Established in 1989, SARPV has extensive experience in disability inclusion, rehabilitation, health and community-based development.
SARPV has more than ten years of experience providing clubfoot services in Cox’s Bazar. Between 2016 and 2024, it treated 801 children with newly diagnosed clubfoot and established four clubfoot clinics in the district. SARPV uses community outreach, early detection, referral, and the Ponseti method to help children access timely, quality care. In FY27, SARPV will continue operating four clubfoot centers in Chakaria, Ukhiya, Maheshkhali, and Cox’s Bazar Sadar. With support from MiracleFeet, SARPV will also coordinate the broader MiracleFeet-supported clubfoot network in Bangladesh, working with clinicians and partner organizations.
Our Partner
Social Assistance and Rehabilitation for the Physically Vulnerable (SARPV) has worked with vulnerable and marginalized communities in Bangladesh for more than three decades, with a focus on persons with disabilities. Its extensive experience in community-based rehabilitation and clubfoot care, together with strong relationships with government facilities and local communities, provides a strong foundation for expanding access to quality clubfoot treatment.
SARPV will work with established clubfoot treatment providers, including LAMB Hospital in Dinajpur, Alabox Specialized Physiotherapy Treatment Centre in Feni, and Orko Care Center in Cumilla, under service agreements with SARPV.
