About our work
MiracleFeet is proud to partner with Walk for Life (WFL) Bangladesh. Bangladesh has made significant progress in improving its healthcare system, but wealth disparities limit access to care for conditions like clubfoot. WFL Bangladesh built a strong partnership with the government, operating 27 clinics in government hospitals and six clinics in private ones.
MiracleFeet’s partnership with WFL Bangladesh began in 2018 when MiracleFeet supported an outreach initiative to identify and find patients who dropped out of treatment and get them re-enrolled. Since then MiracleFeet continued to support WFL Bangladesh’s program providing high-quality treatment as well as technical training and supervision, early detection and referral, and treatment.
To create a sustainable clubfoot program and offer maximum independence for Ponseti Practitioners, Miraclefeet is supporting WFL Bangladesh’s efforts to establish additional Ponseti clinics throughout the country in private or charitable hospital to provide affordable treatment and treatment at no cost to qualifying families. With strong referral pathways, over 96% of patient enrolled in the past year were under 12 months of age. Beyond treatment, MiracleFeet also supported a study WFL Bangladesh implemented to identify reasons patient dropout of treatment and effective strategies for re-enrollment. The study was extremely effective and is recognized by a global network of clubfoot providers.
In 2019, the partnership with WFL Bangladesh treated more than half the estimated annual clubfoot cases in the country. Miraclefeet will support WFL Bangladesh in reaching 70% of the country’s estimated annual clubfoot cases by 2024.
