About our work
MiracleFeet works to increase access to clubfoot treatment throughout Cambodia in partnership with NextSteps, a Cambodian non-profit that provides treatment and support to children with physical disabilities. NextSteps is led by Professor Vuthy Chhoeurn MD, head of Surgery at the National Children’s Hospital in Phnom Penh. He is supported by Colleen and John Orange, Australian-based professionals, and a small local staff.
Since the partnership started in 2017, the program has treated over 1,000 children born with clubfoot. Support for patients and families includes free treatment, provision of foot abduction braces, and transportation subsidies for those in need. Through the partnership, NextSteps also conducted various early detection workshops and awareness-raising sessions with health care workers. National clubfoot meetings and treatment refresher trainings are also conducted annually.
Going forward, the program plans increase geographic coverage and increase support for trainings and supportive supervision activities to achieve high-quality treatment outcomes country-wide.
