Update on the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services Partnership
MiracleFeet is not currently working in Cameroon.
In December 2023, The Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBCHS) informed MiracleFeet that funding from previous donors was concluding. This reduction in support posed a significant risk with the possibility of clubfoot treatment interruptions. MiracleFeet immediately developed short-term and comprehensive plans to ensure children in Cameroon continued to receive timely and high-quality clubfoot treatment.
From December 2023 to June 2024, we enrolled 236 children in treatment. We also enhanced treatment quality (increasing tenotomy rates to 86.5%, well above the 80% global benchmark), strengthened team data gathering and usage skills, and elevated the program as a sustainable national initiative, aligned with other programs in West and Central Africa.
CBCHS has recently strategically and efficiently secured new funding sources, including Hope and Healing and other stakeholders, to contribute to its clubfoot program. As a result, the CBCHS clubfoot program has a comprehensive strategic plan to ensure that children born with clubfoot in Cameroon continue to receive treatment, and MiracleFeet is no longer needed as a funding partner.
Expressing gratitude for MiracleFeet’s role at a critical time, Prof. Tih Pius Muffih, Country Director/Principal Investigator/Program Director of CBCHS, shared, “We wish to thank MiracleFeet for coming just in time to bridge the gaps in our project in Cameroon. MiracleFeet demonstrated tremendous professionalism and technical expertise during the short time we worked together.”
MiracleFeet is shifting resources from Cameroon to other countries that require immediate support for clubfoot treatment initiatives.
