About Our Work
In early 2019, MiracleFeet began a partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)/MoveAbility to support clubfoot treatment in Somalia.
Somalia’s civil war and ongoing political turmoil have devastated the health infrastructure in the country. With few trained providers and services available only in major cities, it is difficult for most Somalians to access needed medical care. There is an enormous backlog of untreated clubfoot.
Though safety concerns have made it challenging for most NGOs to work continuously in Somalia, ICRC operated throughout Somalia’s civil war and has remained an advocate of rehabilitative services. ICRC/MoveAbility Foundation works to remove barriers faced by persons with physical disabilities by fostering sustainable, accessible, and quality physical rehabilitation services. MoveAbility will work with MiracleFeet to provide program support in the form of imported materials and the facilitation of ongoing training and mentoring.
MiracleFeet will support two clubfoot clinics at Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) centers in Mogadishu and Galkayo. These SRCS centers are financed by the Norwegian Red Cross and supported technically by ICRC/MoveAbility.
