About Our Work
There is a long history of collaboration between Diecke United Methodist Clinic and Ganta United Methodist Hospital, which is just across the border in Liberia. During the civil war in the 1990s, many Liberians fled to Diecke, among them staff from Phebe Hospital. These doctors and nurses set up an emergency clinic to treat refugees. Eventually, the clinic became a permanent fixture for the community and today treats a variety of conditions. In 2017, in collaboration with MiracleFeet’s partner Liberia Clubfoot Program, the staff at Diecke began using the Ponseti method to treat clubfoot.
