In December 2018, clubfoot treatment providers from throughout Bangladesh gathered for training on MiracleFeet’s mobile app, CAST. The app is part of a suite of technology tools funded by a $1M Google.org Impact Challenge grant. The goal of the grant is to make cutting-edge technology available in low-resource settings so that clubfoot treatment is accessible to more children.
For the team in Bangladesh, CAST is a tool to help them further streamline the treatment process in their busy system of clinics – 33 clinics in public and private hospitals where staff work to reach the 4,000 children born with clubfoot in Bangladesh every year.
Three training facilitators conducted the sessions, during which participants were able to practice entering patient records, taking photos, and performing other tasks routinely completed as part of patient assessment and treatment.
The Bangladesh clinics rolled out the mobile app in all clinics the following month, January 2019. Other MiracleFeet-supported programs in Asia will begin using CAST this spring, thus completing the full implementation in the 26 countries where we work.
