Sean was born with bilateral clubfoot in Tanzania. He was two months old when his parents brought him from their home in Zanzibar to Usa River for treatment. Neither of Sean’s parents had ever seen clubfoot before but they learned that treatment was available from friends who knew about the Usa River Clubfoot Clinic.
At first, Sean’s grandmother thought the family could treat the condition by massaging the child’s feet. When that didn’t work, Sean’s mother was distraught and thought her son would never be able to walk. Even after he received his first cast, she was not sure the treatment would work.
Fortunately, the family continued bringing Sean to treatment and started to notice the improvement in his feet. After the casting phase, Sean received a tenotomy. Now his feet are corrected and he is faithfully wearing his braces. Sean’s mother promises to be an ambassador for clubfoot treatment and share the story of her son’s successful treatment with everyone.
