Patient Stories

Children who are born with clubfoot are faced with challenges many of us cannot ever imagine. Many cannot walk, run, or play, and in some parts of the world, they are hidden away, kept from socializing, attending school or playing an active role in their community.

miraclefeet partners with clubfoot clinics in order to provide free treatment. With the correct treatment, these children have a bright and hopeful future. These are just a few of the stories of miraclefeet children.

Yasmin Yasmin was born in Ceara, a state in the northeast of Brazil, with bilateral clubfeet. There, she started her treatment.

Alan When we first met Alan, he was living in a children's home in Sao Paulo. He had been found with his brother, sister, and mother living homeless.

Deborah Deborah started her Ponseti treatment with Dr. Tierno in Salvador, Brazil in December 2006. She was treated with seven casts and a tenotomy, but had no other surgery. Vinisius Vinisius is 15 months old and was born with bilateral clubfeet. He is currently a patient at Hospital da Baleia in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Hospital da Baleia was not the first place he received treatment.
Heloisa Heloisa lives with her mother and brother, 90 miles from Sao Paulo, and the miraclefeet partner clinic. Each week, they leave their home at 4 a.m. and take a van from city hall to Sao Pauo. Daily Daily is a Miskito Indian from the border of Honduras and Nicaragua. At the age of ten, Daily is much older than most children being treated with the Ponseti Method.
Alino Alino is seven years old. He became Dr. Tierno's patient as a newborn, when he was treated with 4 castings and a tenotomy in the beginning phases of the Ponseti method.
