MiracleFeet Clinics

In July 2012, MiracleFeet began a partnership with Faith Clinical Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center (FACORC), the organization that created the Liberia Clubfoot Program (LCP). MiracleFeet supports LCP in training new practitioners, providing treatment supplies, education and outreach to families and communities, and administrative support. Treatment is available at nine of the 15 counties in Liberia and MiracleFeet plans to expand treatment in the coming years working closely with the Ministry of Health to create a sustainable national program.

LCP has also developed a strong outreach team called Foot Soldiers to inform the Liberian population that clubfoot is a treatable condition. The Foot Soldiers regularly visit schools, marketplaces, and other public gathering places to deliver their message. LCP advocates for the integration of clubfoot services into the Liberian Department of Rehabilitation for an eventual transition to the Liberian government. The efforts of the Foot Soldiers has significantly increased the number of new patients enrolled at clinics.

Additionally, MiracleFeet provide scholarships, which include tuition and school supplies, to help children who completed treatment return to school. Many children with untreated clubfoot either never enrolled or dropped out of school because of the stigma and associated difficulties of the birth defect. The scholarship rewards patients for completing treatment and encourages families to prioritize education.

Liberia uses the ACT training curriculum and has national trainers who travel around the country to provide basic Ponseti courses to new providers and advanced Ponseti courses to experienced ones. The Liberia program retains 95.4% of patients which speaks to the quality to treatment and care as well as the early detection and referral pathways.
